Toilet Birthday:August 8, 2008The toilet at Lily Flanagan's, yet another bar in Long Island, was not flushing properly. So, instead of posting a photo of a toilet full of "toilet stuff" I opted to use a photo of what my group and I did to the bar's coat check. Also, it's not really a toilet from this year, but rather another PM toilet.

The toilet in the mens room at a Long Island bar called Maxwell's. According to the alum of St. Joseph's, an all-girls Catholic school who were having their reunion there, it used to be called Hutley's or (to many of the patrons) Slutley's. I'm not sure if the name change was due to new ownership or a drop in sluts.

On Boxing Day, I was invited to dinner at the home of new friends. I met a cute baby (Ada) a cute dog (Norman) and served what was (I'm told) previously a cute lamb named Salt. Our discussion revolved around jigsaw puzzles, girly drinks and yarn.

The toilet found in one of two bathrooms at the house I visited on Christmas Day night. It's not actually a New Year's toilet but only the month (January) and the Year (1999) were visible. My hosts served me a delicious vegetarian dinner and then proceeded to deafen me with a Roger Waters DVD and superb French-made speakers.

Toilet Birthday:October 29, 2007The toilet at the restaurant Milon on 1st Avenue b/w 5th and 6th. It's a total fire hazard - red pepper lights hanging all over the place - but a lot of fun. Next door there's another restaurant that's virtually identical when it comes to decor, food and service but they both swear they're not sharing a kitchen. Also, this area of Manhattan is known as Curry Row. I can't tell if that's racist or not.

Toilet Birthday:March 2, 2007The toilet in the ladies room at the Trinity Pub. If I ever open a pub I want a mural ("Three Old Guys") just like the one at this place.

Toilet Birthday:February 2, 2007The toilet at my aunt's house in Westchester. They were nice enough to invite me for Thanksgiving this year and I rewarded their kindness by sneaking a camera into the bathroom with me.

Toilet Birthday:May 14, 2005The toilet in the mens room at the Trinity Pub on the UES of Manhattan. When I went to photograph the toilet, I accidentally walked in on the bartender using the facilities, with my camera in hand. My apologies to him and a "hello" to Bob and his wife, a couple from the UK I met at the bar, who I promised to mention on this site.

Toilet Birthday:July 1, 1998This toilet is in the apartment of a family I babysit for. One of the kids loves the movie "Cars" and NASCAR racing. The other loves Cookie Monster. They were both wondering why their babysitter takes a camera into the bathroom with her. I hope I haven't warped them.

Toilet Birthday:August 5, 2008I've looked everywhere for the picture I snapped of the toilet in the mens room at Bella Cucina, the Italian restaurant/sports bar next to my hotel in Los Angeles (The Hotel Figueroa), but it seems to have disappeared into the bowels of my memory card. Instead, I'll use this photo of the exterior of the restaurant as a placeholder until I can get back to L.A. or convince a friend of mine to snap one. Also, to further complicate matters, the toilet is not from 2008. Toilet date: August 5, AM.
